Poll: Post Trump tweet, DeSantis leads Florida governor race

A new poll of likely Republican primary voters in the Florida governor race shows the impact of President Trump's endorsement tweet of Ron DeSantis.

The local Congressman finished first in a sample of 1,423 likely GOP voters, with 28 percent. Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam was second, with 25 percent followed by Florida House Speaker Richard Corcoran with 3 percent. Only Putnam is an official candidate to replace Gov. Rick Scott.

Forty-four percent were undecided.

The voters sampled Dec. 30 and 31 held an overwhelmingly favorable view of Trump, 84 percent, while more than two in three said they are more likely to support DeSantis because of Trump's endorsement.

The sample, taken by Remington Research Group of Kansas City and first reported by Politico Florida, was not affiliated with any campaign.
