Galaxy S9 release - New image may reveal one major disappointment for Samsung fans

SAMSUNG'S Galaxy S9 looks set to be unveiled later this year and could include some big upgrades but a new image may also reveal a major disappointment.

will be hoping to reproduce the success of 2017 with some more award-winning devices this year.

The Korean technology firm has already revealed its mid-range Galaxy A8 which will arrive in stores this April and now the world waits to see when the all-new flagship will be unveiled.

It's thought Samsung will choose Mobile World Congress to show off its next device and, if this turns out to be true, there's not long to wait.

MWC 2018 opens its doors on February 26 meaning there could be less than two months to wait until the S9 is officially revealed.

There's already been plenty of speculation about the Galaxy S9 with rumours suggesting this new smartphone will be the fastest device Samsung has ever made.

Qualcomm recently gave an early glimpse of its which is not only much quicker but also far more efficient meaning any smartphone using it should get extended battery life.

There's no official confirmation that the 845 will be placed inside the S9 but it looks almost certain that some Samsung devices will get this new chip.

Other new features could include an improved dual curved Infinity display and better security with the S9 expected to have superior facial recognition and a change to the fingerprint scanner placement.

All of these updates will help to make the S9 even better than its predecessor but a new image may also reveal a huge disappointment.

Pictures posted on Chinese social media site Weibo reveal that, whilst the S9+ will have a dual-lens rear camera, the standard S9 will only feature a single camera.

Dual snappers have become commonplace on most flagship devices with them able to offer DSLR-style effects and vastly improved photos.

However, it seems that Samsung fans wanting to take advantage of this photographic function will need to opt for the larger and more expensive S9+.

There's no confirmation on whether the images are real but, if true, it could be a major disappointment for anyone wanting to own the smaller version of this flagship.

Although it seems the S9 won't have a dual-lens camera on the rear it could feature this technology on the front.

Samsung has already confirmed that its new Galaxy A8, which was revealed in December, will include a dual front-facing camera.

This double camera allows selfie lovers to choose from close-ups, wide-angle or stunning portrait shots which add a DSLR depth of field to images.

And with the advanced Live Focus feature, users can even adjust this blur bokeh effect before or after they take the picture.

There's no word whether the S9 will also feature this technology but it's unlikely that Samsung would include it on their latest mid-range A8 device and not on their flagship.
