Rebecca LacaA grandmother accused of child abuse after her grandson was hospitalized with a brain injury has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
Rebecca Laca, 57, pleaded guilty in November to child abuse-negligently causing serious bodily injury and was sentenced on Dec. 29, according to a news release from Ken Lane, Denver District Attorney’s Office communications director. She also was ordered to pay $9,434 in restitution.
In November 2016, Laca was caring for the 6-month-old baby boy when she became upset with him and slammed him on a bed causing a frontal bilateral subdural brain bleed and retinal hemorrhaging.
