TUSCALOOSA, Ala: This year, prior to the start of their football season, the University of Alabama upped their commitment to player recovery with the addition of the Crimson Tide Recovery Zone Powered by NormaTec.
The University of Alabama's Strength and Conditioning Complex now includes an area dedicated to athlete recovery, where players can utilize NormaTec's PULSE PRO Recovery Systems. The prominent Division I football program has cited recovery as a critical contributor to its success, and has partnered with NormaTec on the initiative. To see a video of the new space, click here.
"We feel like the recovery zone is one of the best investments we have made here at Alabama in terms of how we manage our athletes," says Jeff Allen, Director of Sports Medicine and Head Football Athletic Trainer for the University of Alabama. "NormaTec is a key component in recovery and getting our guys ready to go each and every day... and the response that we have seen to this has been tremendous. They love it, they love using it, and it makes them focus on recovery, which I think is critical."
NormaTec's patented technology uses dynamic compression and a proprietary massage sequence to increase circulation and speed recovery. It rejuvenates sore muscles, improves flexibility, and helps flush metabolites like lactate from the body faster. Athletes can target specific areas of the body with attachments for the legs, arms, and hips.
"The University of Alabama football program is one of the most robust in the world and it is a huge honor to help them optimize their training and performance capabilities with an official Recovery Zone Powered by NormaTec," said Gilad Jacobs, CEO of NormaTec. "We know this team leaves it all on the field every week, so we're excited to help them recover between practices and stay strong and fresh for every game."
In addition to bringing NormaTec's state-of-the-art recovery and rehab technology to the team's training facility, the University has also invested in NormaTec PULSE Series Recovery Systems for the team to travel with. NormaTec Recovery Systems feature a lightweight design and integrated battery, affording the team easy access to the same top-notch recovery technology during away games. The University is currently training for the College Football Playoff Semifinal game on New Year's Day in New Orleans, and will bring NormaTec PULSE Series equipment on the road with them.
