Attempted robbery at Smyrna restaurant

Smyrna police are searching for the suspect in an attempted robbery at KFC/Taco Bell.

Smyrna police are following leads and also seeking the public’s help in solving an attempted robbery.

On Saturday, Dec. 30 at about 9:07 p.m., the suspect, wearing a mask and dark clothing, entered the KFC/Taco Bell restaurant at 134 N. Dupont Highway.

The suspect implied he was armed with a handgun and demanded money from employees at the counter.

Prior to obtaining money, the suspect fled from the business.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-9-inches tall, weighing 180-215 pounds.

Investigators are asking anyone with information in this case to call Detective Brien Street at (302) 653-9217. Tips may also be submitted to SPD on social media or Delaware Crime Stoppers at http://www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com, or 1-800-TIP-3333. Those offering tips may remain anonymous.
