Red Cross nurse returns home

Poncha Springs resident Christine Sturgeon spent Christmas at home following a two-week deployment as a Red Cross nurse assisting victims of the Thomas Fire in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties in California.

The Thomas fire is now listed by CalFire as the largest wildfire in California since records were begun in 1932, having burned more than 281,620 acres.
