FITCHURCH CHALLENGE: 9 a.m. Jan. 6, Lakeland Family YMCA, 3620 Cleveland Heights Blvd., Lakeland, free, registration required by Jan. 3, mylrh.org/fitchurchchallenge. The 12-week challenge begins with participants having their weight, blood pressure and blood glucose levels measured. Other activities during the three-month challenge includes free workouts, education, prizes and awards provided by Lakeland Regional Health and the YMCA. The challenge culminates in March with a final health screening, prizes will be awarded to teams with the highest percentage of weight lost, highest number of participants with optimal blood glucose levels and highest number of participants with optional blood pressure levels. Participants are able to purchase a special three-month discounted membership to four of the area's YMCAs.
