Hollywood films in 2018: Avengers Infinity War, Deadpool 2, Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom and more

2017 was dismaying for Hollywood, with some important, long-awaited big budget films tanking at the box office. The producers and studios would like to put all that unpleasantness behind them and look ahead. 2018 has a splendid lineup of movies from every genres that should cheer them up. But that is what we thought in 2017 too. Anyway, Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe itself has three big releases - Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, and Ant-Man and the Wasp. Their rival, Warners Bros and DC, only have Aquaman, a film worth looking forward to, the catastrophe of Justice League notwithstanding. Then there is a film set in the Star Wars universe, a superhero-horror film, out-and-out horror films, a couple of fantasy films, and a lot more. Here is the full list.

Insidious: The Last Key: The fourth iteration of Insidious series, Insidious: The Last Key comes early this year to scare the hell out of us... or at least that is what we hope. The Last Key will release on January 5.

Black Panther: Chadwick Boseman stars as the titular Marvel superhero who is the king of Wakand, a fictional African kingdom and Michael B Jordan stars as the villain, Killmonger. It will release on February 16.

A Wrinkle in Time: Adaptation of 1962 novel of the same name by Madeleine L'Engle, A Wrinkle in Time is a fantasy film that stars Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peña, Storm Reid, Zach Galifianakis. It will release on March 9.

Pacific Rim: Uprising: The sequel to 2013's Pacific Rim, Uprising stars John Boyega (Finn of Star Wars) as an ex-Jaegar pilot. Pacific Rim: Uprising will release on March 23.

Ready Player One: Steven Spielberg returns to direct a film after The Post, which adapts Ernest Cline's popular science-fiction book of the same name. Ready Player One will release on March 30.

The New Mutants: It is probably the first superhero horror film, and stars a great cast of young actors. The New Mutants will be the 11th installment in the X-Men series, and will release on April 13.

Avengers: Infinity War: Probably the most awaited film of the year, Infinity War pits Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy against Thanos and is the penultimate film in the Avengers series. It would release earlier in India on April 27.

Solo: A Star Wars Story: The Star Wars film that will follow the exploits of one of the best characters in Star Wars, Han Solo and his co-pilot Chewbacca. It would release on May 25.

Deadpool 2: The Merc with a Mouth will be back for a second time and will hit the screens on June 1.

The Incredibles 2: Sequel to much loved film The Incredibles of 2004, The Incredibles 2 will release on June 15.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom: The sequel to megahit Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom continues the story of Owen Grady and Claire Dearing and also the prehistoric beasts. It will release on June 22, 2018.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Sequel to the unexpected hit Ant-Man, Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lily will star in this film that will release on July 6.

The Nun: Set in The Conjuring franchise, The Nun is about the story of the mysterious nun that appears to Vera Farmiga's Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring 2. The Nun will release on July 10.

Mission: Impossible 6: The sixth iteration of the spy-action franchise, Mission Impossible 6 has a stellar cast and will release on July 27.

Venom: Sony is hush-hush about it for now, so we do not know whether Venom is set in Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it is Tom Hardy, so who cares? Venom will release on October 5

X-Men: Dark Phoenix: 13th film in X-Men franchise, Dark Phoenix will hopefully be better than the disastrous Apocalypse. Much better. It will release on Nobvermber 2.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald: Jude Law stars as the younger (and insanely hot) Dumbledore and will team up with Eddie Redmayne's Newt Scamander to stop Johnny Depp's dark wizard, Grindelwald.

Aquaman: Justice League may have been a huge disappointment, but Aquaman nevertheless looks exciting. Jason Momoa will star as the superhero and Patrick Wilson as the villain, Orm. It will release on December 21.
