Traffic in Mumbai's eastern suburbs hit due to protests over Koregaon-Bhima clash

MUMBAI: Vehicular traffic was hit at Ramabai Colony, Kamraj Nagar, Acharya Garden and Amar Mahal bridge in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai due to protests on Tuesday. The traffic police started issuing diversions after massive snarls and backlogs started to develop.

Congestion was reported at IIT Powai, JVLR, Shreyas Cinema at Ghatkopar, Santacruz-Chembur Link Road and Eastern Express Highway. Roads between Sion-Chembur-Mulund were affected.


"Traffic coming from Navi Mumbai to Mumbai has been temporarily halted at Panvel. Heavy vehicles have been diverted at Mankhurd. Traffic on north and south bounds of Vikhroli has been diverted via LBS Marg. Traffic on JVLR has been diverted via Saki Naka. At Chembur, traffic is being diverted via Panjarpol," said a traffic police official.


Additional traffic personnel were deployed on roads to guide motorists.
