The loved-up couple have a lot to celebrate as the pair are set to marry later this year in May.

According to sources the ginger royal and Meghan flew out of Heathrow on New Year's Eve on a scheduled British Airways flight to Nice.

But the couple’s romantic getaway reportedly began in a less chic fashion with an economy flight and seats next to the toilets.

Prince Harry and Meghan boarded their 9.55am flight before any other passengers and headed straight to the back of the plane, next to the rear toilets, sources have claimed.

The pair were said to have been accompanied by three 'edgy and nervous' bodyguards and the party took up three rows of economy seats, either side of the aisle.

Harry apparently slumped down next to the window dressed in jeans, a jacket and with a baseball cap pulled over his face.

Meanwhile his fiancee was sitting next to him in a black beanie hat and minimal make-up.

The pair were met by two heavily armed officers from the French border police when they disembarked before being escorted through VIP area of the airport.

Other sources also claim several members of France's elite Service de la Protection – the police unit responsible for the protection of foreign dignitaries – have been flown down from Paris to guard the couple during their stay.

When asked if Kensington Palace had requested them, the insiders said: “No, it would have been offered and would have been non-negotiable.

“After what happened to his mother in this country and the issue of terrorism, it would be insisted on even for a private trip such as this.”

It is understood that Harry and Meghan plan to stay several days at a private residence in the Riviera region.

The news comes as punters are already predicting a full year for the royals with a little princess called Alice and baby joy for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the forefront of forecasts.

Bookies are already taking bets that Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, will announce they are expecting their first child, with Ladbrokes’ offering odds of 5/4.

Meanwhile, Alice is tipped as the name the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will pick for their newborn, expected in April – if the baby is a girl.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s mother was called Princess Alice of Battenberg before her marriage. And if the baby is a boy, Albert is being tipped as a top choice.

The name would honour Queen Victoria’s much-loved consort Prince Albert. Other boys’ names suggested are Arthur, Charles, Francis, Frederick, Philip and James.

January will see a big change for the Cambridges when daughter Princess Charlotte, two, begins Willcocks Nursery School, in Kensington.

Meanwhile milestone birthdays, foreign tours and visits by dignitaries – possibly one by US President Donald Trump – will also make it a bumper year for the Windsors.
