PUST employees begin strike

Class three and class four employees of Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) began a wildcat work abstention for an indefinite  period on Sunday for not approving their upgradation policy at the regent board meeting.

The employees, however, came to the office yesterday but did not join work, hampering the official work.

Class Three and Class Four Employees Samity President Jamsed Hossain said over 200 employees are working in the university, but most of them do not get promotion in due time for not amending the policy.

Jamsed said an upgradation policy has been submitted to the regent board meeting held in the capital on December 28. But the board did not approve the new policy, he added.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Anwarul Islam said the upgradation policy would be approved after the ministry concerned revise it.

Dr Anwarul said they have asked the workers and employees to join the work immediately as the first year honours admission process begins today.
