MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - There's good news from Marquette County law enforcement as they say, it was a well behaved crowd in the Marquette Sunday night and into Monday morning for the New Year's Eve ball drop. With at least a thousand people in downtown Marquette, police report no major incidents.

They've been spreading the message of having designated drivers when you go out and obeying the law regarding open intoxicants in public. After the ball drop they say the message is getting out and it's showing.

"The bars and restaurants in the area were very, very busy last night, but everybody did a great job, they had a great time it seems like, even though the temperatures were real cold," said Sgt. James Finkbeiner. "We had plenty of officers in the area to make sure that we were there to respond if there was a problem but we did not have any series problems last night."

This the second year the downtown ball drop has been under new management by Double Trouble DJ's.
