Village chief shot dead

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — A barangay captain in Masbate was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding men in Aroroy town on Saturday.

Samuel Gerez, 53, of Barangay San Isidro was on a motorcycle when he was killed by the assailants who were tailing him in Barangay Talabaan, according to Senior Inspector Malou Calubaquib, spokesperson for the Bicol police.

Probers have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
