Just as the sun set, hundreds of skiers and snowboarders, participants and onlookers passed some of the last few hours of 2017 at the 36th annual Torchlight Parade and Fireworks Sunday at Monarch Mountain.

The annual parade at the ski and snowboard area began at 5:30 p.m. and included live music by local band Roundhouse Assembly.

Although it has received no recent new snow, Monarch Mountain reported a base of 26 inches of snow and will start the new year today with 46 trails open and all lifts operating.
