United have a number of injuries to contend with in their squad leading to Jose Mourinho making a number of changes.
Rashford was expected to come in and lead the line after coming on to replace Lukaku at the weekend.
But Mourinho has opted to give Martial a rare opportunity down the middle, with the England international on the bench.
Marcos Rojo, Ander Herrera are the other two changes for United as Ashley Young and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are replaced.
Young misses out after accepting a three-match ban for elbowing Dusan Tadic in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Southampton.
United are seeking their first three points in two weeks having drawn their last three fixtures against Leicester, Burnley and Southampton respectively.
And they can ill-afford to drop any more points as the race for a top four spot heats up.
