Doha: The Court of First Instance levied a bus driver who assaulted another motorist in road rage fight with a fine of QR5,000.
The Public Prosecution had referred the driver to a criminal trial for assault and deliberately causing bodily harm to the victim, a car driver, who suffered severe physical damage.
According to the case filed, the motorist was driving on a crowded street, and was leaving a roundabout, when the bus driver on the left side tried to turn and overtake his car. The car driver in his attempt to avoid the bus entered the muddy road.
The bus was carrying many passengers, who hurled insults at the car driver. The bus stopped and when the car driver approached the bus driver to talk to him, the passengers and bus driver hit the former and drove off.
The car driver noted the bus number and filed a complaint with the police who tracked the bus and the driver. The driver admitted to the incident.
