Opposing the setting up of the National Health Commission as recommended by the NITI Aayog, the Hubballi unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) staged a protest before the tahsildar's office and submitted a memorandum, on Monday.
The IMA Hubballi unit president Dr G B Sathoora said that the IMA had called for a nation-wide protest on January 2, 2018.
As a consequence, all hospital out-patient departments will remain closed on that day as a mark of peaceful protest, including those in the city.
"However, in-patient departments and emergency services will function as usual," assured Dr Sathoora.
