11 houses burnt in Thakurgaon

THAKURGAON, Dec 31: At least 11 houses were gutted in a fire at Mohishmari Hazipara Village under Duosuo Union in Baliadangi Upazila here on Tuesday night.
Locals and eyewitnesses said the fire originated from the kitchen at one Abbas Ali's house and soon it spread to other houses, causing a damage worth about Tk 6 lakh.
On information, Baliadangi police and Thakurgaon fire-fighters rushed to the spot and doused the flame after two and a half hours.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abdul Mannan visited the spot on Wednesday morning and distributed warm clothes among 11 affected families.
He also assured them  of help from the upazila administration.
