Kamala Mills fire: Kin of accused produced in court, granted bail

The third accused arrested for harbouring offenders wanted in the Kamala Mills fire incident was produced in the Sewri court on Monday.

The third accused arrested for harbouring offenders wanted in the Kamala Mills fire incident was produced in the Sewri court on Monday.

Mahendra Sanghvi was arrested by the Byculla police under IPC Section 216, for shielding the wanted accused Jigar and Kripesh Zaveri, owners of the 1Above pub where fire claimed 14 lives last Friday.

The Zaveri brothers have been on the run since the incident and are wanted by the NM Joshi Marg police on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder alongwith their third Pune-based partner Abhijit Manka.

Mahendra was aprehended a day after the arrest of his son Aditya and Rakesh under the charges of shielding the accused Jigar and Kripesh.

Mahendra's lawyer told that the case registered against his client was a bailable offence and two other accused in the similar case was released on bail.

The judge granted bail to Mahendra on a surety of Rs 10,000.

Family members of Mahendra alleged that the they were being harassed by the police which has turned a blind eye on the actual culprits.
