NATORE, Dec 31: Meat of Arabian sheep allocated by the administration was not properly distributed in the district, it was alleged.
Natore Municipality Mayor Uma Chowdhury alleged that she was supposed to get 18 cartons of meat according to the allocation of the district administration, but it was not handed over to her.
The local administration fell into trouble taking the matter, the official source said.
According to the Natore Pourashava source, the district administration allocated 18 cartons of meat for Natore Pourashava as per list. But Farhad Hossain, office secretary of the unit of Poura-Awami League, received the meats on behalf of the Poura-Awami League. As a result, the meats did not reach the proper hand.
Among others, the acting UNO of Natore Sadar Upazila Reza Hasan and the Project Implementation Officer Ayesha Siddiqa were present.
Later, Mayor Uma Chowdhury did not get back the meet even after many efforts. She alleged that it was snatched by others.
Farhad Hossain who received the meats said, UNO and PIO told him at first to receive the meat as a Poura Councilor of Natore Pourashava but he denied and told them to hand over the meat to the Poura-mayor.
Later, according to the suggestions of some district party leaders, Farhad received the meats to distribute those on behalf of the party interest.
UNO Reza Hassan said, he did not get any particular rules about the distribution of the meat. So he handed over the meats to the competent persons who can distribute it properly among the poor people.
