Day 3 ended with the possibility of a new name entering the list of Ranji Trophy champions. Vidarbha’s Akshay Wadkar and Siddesh Neral stood strong and left the field with their heads held high as the Delhi bowlers toiled away in Indore with little to show. Wadkar made 133 off 243 balls while Neral was at 56 off 92. Before Neral, it was Aditya Sarwate who was the source of Delhi’s frustration until he fell to Nitish Rana. Vidarbha start the day on 528/7 with a 233-run lead in their pockets. They are the side with the clear advantage but will be looking to add more to this tally if they have to truly put it out of Delhi’s’ reach.

0415 PM IST: SIX! The Delhi tailenders have certainly pushed the paddle and are up for a counter attack. They are 271/8 and lead by 19 runs

0400 PM IST: WICKET! Delhi are losing wickets in quick succession. Navdeep Saini is another who has deoarted after getting in the deep off Wakhare. The spinner bags his fourth wicket

0345 PM IST: WICKET! Delhi are struggling. They are 7 down and this time it’s Manan Sharma who has to take the long walk back. He has been cleaned up by Wakhare

0330 PM IST: Delhi are in a spot of bother after losing 6 wickets. They still trail Vidarbha by 24 runs

0300 PM IST: GONE! Himmat Singh dismissed for a duck, Delhi 190/5, trail Vidarbha by 62 runs. Just two hours of play left and Delhi would have liked both Himmat and Rishabh Pant in the middle. Wakhare has ensured that doesn’t happen

0225 PM IST: SIX! Rishabh Pant dances down the track and smashes that lenght delivery from Gurbani for a maximum straight back past the bowler

0215 PM IST: WICKET! Dhruv Shorey departs for 62. He tries to slash that one through the off-side but only manages to edge it. Delhi 164/3, trail by 88

0200 PM IST: Nitish Rana brings up his half-century. Rana and Dhruv Shorey have been clinical in their approach after Delhi lost couple of wickets earlier.

0140 PM IST: Delhi’s deficit has now gone below 100 and they have crossed the 150-run mark.

0128 PM IST: Dhruv Shorey reaches his 50. He and Rana have truly led a counter attack from Delhi. Shorey gets to his century in 110 balls. the partnership is now of 98 runs

0100 PM IST: For the first time in what seems like an eternity, Delhi have managed to peg back Vidarbha. Rana and Shorey have frustrated the opposition. Rana has been the more aggressive if the two, with Shorey having faced more than 100 balls to get to his 45

1215 PM IST: Rana and Shorey have held the fort for Delhi very well so far into the second session of the day. Faiz Fazal brought Siddesh Neral into the attack and Shorey is dropped by Jaffer at first slip off his bowling. Delhi are 94/2

1136 AM IST: AT LUNCH, Delhi are 74/2.  178 runs Vidarbha in complete control at the moment. The wicket of Gambhir will be a big boost for them going into the second session. 

1124 AM IST: Dhruv Shorey and Nitish Rana in the middle now for Delhi. Delhi are 70/2 and will be hoping that Shorey can do what he did in the semi-finals.

1109 AM IST: OUT! That is the end of Gautam Gambhir, Gurbani gets his first for the day. Gambhir pinned on the pads as he tries flick it. Big, big break this for Vidarbha, Delhi 50/2

1033 AM IST: GONE! Kunal Chandela tries to go big, ends up getting caught at long off, Aditya Thakare strikes. A rather poor shot from Chandela, it is exactly what Delhi need to avoid to stay afloat, they are 32/1

1013 AM IST: Gautam Gambhir and Kunal Chandela in the middle for Delhi. Gambhir hit consecutive fours off Rajneesh Gurbani’s first over. But there haven’t been anymore fireworks and the two openers have thus far remained solid in the middle.

0948 AM IST: Thakare dismissed by Saini. That’s five wickets in the innings for Navdeep Saini, Vidarbha all out for 547, lead by 252 runs 

0941 AM IST: Aditya Thakare and Rajneesh Gurbani in the middle. Saini and Khejroliya are getting whatever they can from the new ball. Saini gives Thakare something to remember, landing one right in his box. Thakare is down on the ground and takes some time before getting back up

0934 AM IST: OUT! Wadkar looking to swipe it and it balloons to point. That brings an end to a brilliant innings. Wadkar c Rana b Khejroliya 133, Vidarbha 547/9 

0927 AM IST: GONE! Neral was living quite dangerously and he finally succumbs. He gets a thick edge and Rishabh Pant takes a good catch behind the wickets. 

0915 AM IST: Neral is out there to make runs. After losing his stumps for making too much room, he slaps the very next ball to four.

0910 AM IST: Khejroliya bowls his second over of the day and GETS NERAL OFF THE SECOND BALL. Slow full one on the middle and then it goes straight to the stumps but the bowler has OVERSTEPPED and it is, instead, a no ball.

0903 AM IST: Kulwant Khejroliya starts the bowling for Delhi on Day 4. Wadkar and Neral in the middle as they have been since yesterday. How different will it be for Delhi from Day 3, we can only wait and see.
