Bournemouth star Ryan Fraser reveals how Nandos diet has brought confidence back

RYAN FRASER was planning to celebrate his double strike with a Saturday night Nandos after admitting his decision to ease up on his diet has helped him get back to his best.

With their trip to Brighton looming, the winger knew he would quickly be burning off any excess calories.

But Fraser believes his decision to load up on the carbs – together with an extra portion of confidence – was one of the factors that fired his resurgence after a slow start to the campaign.

The 23-year-old was the main reason Bournemouth will head to the Amex Stadium having ended a run of eight games without a win thanks to his 33rd minute volley and late winner after Idrissa Gueye’s 57th minute equaliser.

“I tried everything to get my confidence back. I changed my eating habits, had chats with the manager. I saw the club psychologist but I think I just needed a bit of luck,” said Fraser.

“I was eating a bit too healthy if I’m honest with you. I was probably trying to get a summer body rather than a football body but I’m better now.

“I’m eating more carbs and stuff like that. And maybe I was just not eating enough of that.

"You can eat anything you like in moderation with a game in two days, it’s all energy. I’ll probably have a Nandos tonight!”

Fraser admits he was guilty of presuming he would be a regular starter this season but while he admits he no longer has the worst vehicle in the club car park, he insists there is no risk of him getting above himself.

“I can’t really say that now,” he said: “I’ve got a new Range Rover. A lot of people treat themselves but if you treat yourself in moderation and not be flash and show it off, it’s okay.”

Bournemouth can go above Brighton if they win today, and defender Steve Cook believes that staying above his former club will guarantee survival.

He said: “It would be significant if we went above them on Monday. If we finish above Brighton we will be fine. They will get enough points on the board to be fine.”
