Fire crackers spark several fires in Sri Lanka

A fire caused by fire crackers has been reported in a few areas in the country.

A fire broke out early this morning in a polythene warehouse along the Attidiya road in Bellanthota, Dehiwala. The Fire Fighting Unit of Dehiwala said that five fire engines and 10 firemen were deployed to extinguish the fire. The cause for the fire is yet to be ascertained. However, it is suspected that fire was caused due to fireworks.

Meanwhile, a fire was also reported at a 10-storey building in Vander Place, Dehiwala earlier this morning. Eight storeys of the building have been damaged. However, no damage to other property has been reported.
