RU relaxes qualifications for lecturers' recruitment

The Rajshahi University (RU) authorities have changed the policy for recruiting teachers in different departments of the institution.

Aspiring lecturers in arts faculty, fine arts faculty, and the Institute of Bangladesh Studies must have a minimum CGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 in both undergraduate and post graduate level.

The decision came in the the 475th syndicate meeting headed by Vice Chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan on Saturday night, said Prof M Tazul Islam.

According to the new policy, a lecturer in the social science faculty, law faculty, business studies faculty, and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), a candidate must have a minimum CGPA-3.25 out of 4.00 in undergraduate and post graduate studies.

And candidates willing to apply in science faculty, life and earth science faculty, engineering faculty, and agriculture faculty must have a minimum CGPA of 3.50 out of 4.00.

According to the old policy, a minimum CGPA of 3.50 out of 4.00 was required in both the degrees.

Another old condition of having a minimum of GPA of 4.5 out of 5.00 in both SSC and HSC examinations was also scrapped.
