Robber killed in Netrakona shooting

Netrakona: A leader of inter-district robber gang was killed in a gunfight with law enforcers in Mohanganj upazila of Netrakona district on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Ripul, 40, hailed from Noapara haor area of Gaglajur union.

Officer in-charge (OC) of Mohanganj police station Ansari Zinnat Ali confirmed the matter.

Police arrested Ripul on Sunday.

Law enforcers conducted a drive on the basis of information given by Ripul at Noapara area to recover fire arms. Cohorts of Ripul opened fire on law enforcers after sensing their presence, the OC said.

In reply law enforcers also fired back leading to a gunfight, leaving Ripul spot dead and three police injured, OC added.

There were a total of 14 cases filed with different police stations against Ripul, he said.
