Kamala MillsA mega demolition drive by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation that had ended up destroying illegal structures in nearly 100 restaurants and pubs after the fire at Kamala Mills in Mumbai had taken its toll on the New Years Eve celebrations.

Hoteliers and restaurateurs have mentioned that their businesses on the very last day of the year had declined by almost 40% to 50% while people started cancelling their reservations and bookings increasingly while the day progressed.

A majority of the restaurants are of the view that business is about 40% less than last year.

The sentiments naturally are quite low. Kamala Mills was the finest restaurant hub in Mumbai as per the CEO of Impresario Entertainment and Hospitality and former president of the National Restaurant Association of India, Riyaaz Amlani.

He also went on to assert that there has been no water or electricity owing to the abrupt demolition drive.

The massive fire breakout at a rooftop restaurant in the Kamala Mills compound on Thursday night had killed more than a dozen people.

The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India had requested its members on Saturday to observe humble New Year celebrations as a mark of respect for the victims of the unfortunate tragedy.

The power supply, consequently has been cut in several places.
