2018 will decide India’s road map for job-led growth: PM

New Delhi,

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the calendar year 2018 would be crucial for the country in deciding its future course and job-led economic growth.

Delivering a speech to mark Prof. SN Bose’s 125th birth anniversary at Kolkota via video conference, Mr Modi said, “just like a train takes about five minutes to gain its speed, similarly the year 2018 will help to take the country forward with higher speed”.

He said in 2017 country had taken a pledge to eradicate various social evils by 2022 and to achieve this all sections of people will have to contribute.

“Each individual, family, organisation and all government departments and ministries will have to contribute towards this”, he said adding every individual involved in science and technology should think of innovation keeping their focus for the making of New India”, Prime Minister said.

He said the scientific community has in the past taken the country to newer heights by help achieving several milestones but maintained now it’s time to think over what can be done to ensure “job-led economic growth”.

“The contribution of scientists will be vital to ensure that the benefits of science and technology reach the rural poor”, Mr Modi said.
