Maoists again went on the rampage and ransacked the Kurub panchayat office under the Kalimela police station in the district on Sunday.
Sources said that as many as 25 armed rebels barged into the panchayat office and smashed the TV set and furniture provided to villagers by police.
The incident was suspected to be a fallout of the surrender of villagers before the district police and arrest of 12 militia a few days back. The police had carried out the operation after the rebels indulged in various violent activities like torching of road construction equipments and killing villagers after dubbing them as police informers.
On Dec 27, the police had arrested the 12 ultras after carrying out combing operation at several places in the dist. During police interrogation, the arrested ultras revealed that they were involved in the recent murder of three persons in the dist.
