Maruti Suzuki sales up 11.4% in December

NEW DELHI: The country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki reported a growth of 11.4% to sell 118560 units in December.
While sales of mini cars (Alto, WagonR) grew 2% to 32146 units in the month under review, those of compacts (Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, DZire, Tour S) went up by 23.2% to 53336 units. Demand for midsize sedan Ciaz declined by 35.8% to 2382 units. Sales of utility vehicles - Gypsy, Ertiga, Vistara Brezza, S-Cross - increased by 19.9% to 19276 units.
The company sold 726 units of light commercial vehicle Super Carry last month.
Exports dropped by 6.2% to 10780 units in December.
