Two of seven gang rape accused held

Police yesterday arrested two of the seven accused in a case for raping a housewife at Molankhuri village in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila.

The arrestees are Rathindranath Roy, 37, and Abdul Gafur, 35, while the other accused include Jamal Uddin, 45, Liakat Ali Manik, 32, Hamidur Rahman, 30, Abdur Rashid, 39, and Liakat, 38, of the village. 

According to the case filed by the victim, the accused entered her room after breaking open the window on Friday night when she was alone at the house.

They forcibly took her to a bamboo cluster, gang-raped and stabbed her and fled after tying her.

On Saturday morning, locals brought her to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.

Baragaon Union Parishad Chairman Provat Chandra Sing said, “Rathin has a land dispute with the woman's husband. It might have link with the incident.”

Inspector of Thakurgaon Police Station Kafil Uddin, also investigation officer of the case, said they have arrested two of the accused and are continuing investigation.
