A Greer man and woman were arrested Sunday and charged in connection with the strong-armed robbery of a woman Saturday evening in the Spartanburg Target store parking lot as the victim was loading packages into her vehicle.
Arrested were Danny Joe Cline Jr., 44, and Tonya Darlene Turner, 43, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
They remained at the county detention center Sunday night on strong-arm robbery charges.
A Sheriff’s Office spokesman said at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a strong-armed robbery at the Target store, 8199 Warren H. Abernathy Highway.
A female customer’s purse was stolen by force as she attempted to load packages into her vehicle, and suffered minor injuries when she tried to maintain control of the purse, the spokesman stated.
No weapon was used during the robbery, a sheriff’s report states.
There were four witnesses, one of whom aided the victim and another who obtained the tag number of the suspect’s vehicle.
All witnesses said a female was driving the suspect’s vehicle.
Sunday morning, the suspects were located at their residence at Calina Heights in Greer, the spokesman stated.
“The agency is thankful the victim didn’t suffer any serious injuries and would also like to commend the four witnesses, since the case wouldn’t have been resolved as quickly without their assistance,” Sherif's Office spokesman Lt. Kevin Bobo said in a statement.
