Will double farmers’ income by 2022, Says CM

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat distributed Rs  28.80 crore loan for 12,391 farmers in Udham Singh Nagar district under the Deendayal Upadhyay Sahakarita Kisan Kalyan Yojana here on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Rawat reiterated that the State Government is committed to succeed in achieving the target set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of doubling the income of farmers by 2022. Without mentioning the allegations being leveled by the Congress, the Chief Minister said that the State Government will construct the inter-State bus terminal (ISBT) at Haldwani. He also announced that the remote Okhalkanda block in Nainital district will be linked with tele-radiology service. He said that Government orders have been issued for all the announcements made in the past for the development Haldwani municipal corporation. From the coming academic session, studies will also begin in the agriculture subject in the Government college at Kotabagh. He further informed about the progress achieved in the division of assets between Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. An agreement has also been reached between the two States regarding the operation of buses of the State transport corporations. The division of reservoirs in Udham Singh Nagar district is also expected to be done soon, he added. Within the next one year, the State will have possession of all its assets which are currently with UP. Among other benefits, this will also increase the source of income for the State. Rawat said that 26 hospitals in the State will be linked with tele-radiology service and 700 new doctors will also be appointed soon in the Government hospitals across the State. By the end of the financial year, the State Government is going to provide the benefit of the Mukhya Mantri Swasthya Bima Yojana to 27 lakh families in Uttarakhand, added the Chief Minister.

The State Minister for cooperatives Dhan Singh Rawat said that in the future, the loan amount under the scheme will be increased. He said that more than 20 lakh people are now linked through cooperatives in the State. About 10 lakh people have also opened their accounts in cooperative banks so far.

The State Government is soon going to open a women’s cooperative bank each in the 13 districts of Uttarakhand. Such banks will be operated by women and only women will be able to open accounts in such banks, he added.

Expressing his views on the occasion, the Nainital- Udham Singh Nagar MP Bhagat Singh Koshyari said that the Central and State Governments are working to achieving all round development. He advised the farmer beneficiaries of the scheme to make the best use of the loan and also to develop their own financial resources.

In his address, the State Transport Minister Yashpal Arya said that farming is all the more challenging in mountainous regions.

Through cooperative farming the farmers can increase their income. Similarly, through activities like mushroom cultivation and fishery, the farmers can further boost their income, added Arya.

The Bhartiya Janta Party State president Ajay Bhatt and Nainital district cooperative bank chairman Rajendra Singh Negi also addressed the gathering on the eve.
