Liquor permit and foreign mail charges revised
The fee for a liquor permit will be revised from today (Jan. 01).
The gazette notification relevant to it was issued on the 11th of last month.
Accordingly, the fees for a liquor permit for the category of Tourist Board Approved hotels and the category of hotels with five or more rooms sans Tourist Board approval have been reduced.
The fee for a foreign liquor permit for hotels with 200 or more rooms has been reduced from Rs. 1 million to Rs. 500,000/=.
Reports state that the permit fee for several other categories that vary according to the number of rooms has also been reduced.
Meanwhile. the foreign mail fees for 2018 have been amended, the relevant gazette notification was issued recently.
Accordingly, the charge for overseas letters will increase by Rs. 5, the charge for airmail parcels will be amended according to the country concerned.
Post-Master General Rohana Abeyratne stated that there was a reduction in certain fees.
Meanwhile, the Central Environmental Authority said that the ban imposed on lunch sheets, polythene and rigifoam boxes would come into force today.
The Chairman of the Central Environment Authority Lal Dharmasiri said that action would be taken for those found violating the law.
The ban on lunch sheets, polythene and rigifoam boxes was originally imposed for September 01 last year.
However, at the request of manufacturers, the date of commencement of the ban was postponed until today.
