Cape Town - Two people have been killed in an accident on the N2 highway near Cape Town on New Year's Day.
The City of Cape Town's Maxine Bezuidenhout said the accident occurred on the N2 in the direction of Somerset West, near the R300 highway, and involved two cars.

"A white Audi overturned, one male fatal, one female fatal," Bezuidenhout said. There were also two serious injuries.
Two lanes of the N2 outbound from Cape Town were obstructed.
