What's open and closed on New Year’s Day

* Residential curbside collection for solid waste, recycling and yard trash will be delayed one day for the remainder of the week following the holiday so that Monday's pickup will take place on Tuesday and so forth. The regular schedule for these services will resume the following week.

* The five Alachua County Rural Collection Centers, the Hazardous Waste Collection Center, the Office of Waste Collection, and The Leveda Brown Environmental Park and Transfer Station, will be closed on Monday.

* Alachua County Public Schools are closed through Monday. Classes will resume on Tuesday.

* University of Florida and Santa Fe College classes will resume on Monday, Jan. 8.

* Most banks and credit unions will be closed on Monday.

* U.S. Postal Service offices will be closed on Monday.

* Animal Services will be closed on Monday. For animal emergencies during the holiday period, contact the Alachua County Sheriff's Office at 955-1818.

* Alachua County Library District headquarters, district branches and bookmobiles will be closed on Monday. Book drops and the Library District’s eBranch, however, are available.

* Gainesville Regional Utilities offices are closed on Monday.

* City and county administrative offices are closed on Monday.

* The Office of the Clerk of the Court, Property Appraiser's Office, Tax Collector’s Office, Supervisor of Elections Office and the Alachua County Health Department are closed on Monday.

* Since Dec. 16, RTS has been providing reduced service. There is no service on Routes 19, 21, 27, 28, 29, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 46, 62, 76, and 77 as well as the UF campus and Later Gator routes. Meanwhile, there is reduced service for Routes 9, 10, 12, 13, 20, 23, 33, 34, 35 and 43. Visit www.go-rts.com for a schedule featuring reduced service times. Normal spring service will resume on Tuesday.
RTS is providing reduced holiday service on Monday. Routes 1, 2, 5, 8, 10, 13, 15, 16, 20, 26, 35, 43, 75 and 711 will be running between about 7:30 a.m. and 5:15 p.m. depending on the route. All other routes will be suspended. ADA service, however, will be provided during the same hours of service as those routes listed above.
