NORTH KOREA: Kim Jong-un has reportedly ordered his large missile test to date for 2018

Kim Jong-un has personally ordered the launch of a new-type of ICBM that can successfully re-enter the atmosphere, reports Japanese media.

The missile will be based on previous rockets North Korea has launched into space, it was claimed.

Plans for the missile test are linked to reports Kim is preparing for another satellite launch.

And according to a North Korea defector, a date has even been penciled in the diary for the flying of what could be the Juche Bird.

The source claimed Pyongyang is preparing the never-before-seen test for September 9 next year.

This will be the 70th anniversary of the founding of North Korea by Kim’s grandfather Kim Il-Sung.

“The most powerful detonation of an H-bomb in the Pacific”.”

Japanese media claimed the unnamed defector revealed there was a secret meeting of top North Korea officials on December 11.

In this meeting, Kim ordered the launch of a new missile and demanded the date be set for the country’s platinum anniversary.

This does not mean there will be no tests between then and now, but the date could be a game-changer for a nuclear row raging between the US and North Korea.

Fears rage this could be a dry-run for the dreaded Juche Bird, or even a full-scale test of the devastating weapon.

Juche Bird is the name given by analysts to the theorised test of a live nuclear missile fired into the Pacific.

NUCLEAR WAR: North Korea has fired dozens of missile tests in 2017 – and detonated an H-bomb

North Korea has talked up the possibility of such a test, outright promising they would launch the test in a threat to US President Donald Trump at the UN.

Kim would be expected to fire a non-nuclear armed version of the missile first, proving his weapons can fly out the atmosphere and come back down to hit their targets.

The defector claimed the new missile would be based on the 30-metre long Unha-3, a rocket last launched on February 7, 2016, carrying a spy-satellite into Earth’s orbit.

They said Kim will likely launch a satellite first, to test the rocket’s re-entry capability – before readying for the weaponised version on September 9 next year.

North Korea has promised it will continue to boost "the capabilities for self-defence and preemptive attack” as long as the US "persist in nuclear threat and blackmail and war drills”.

The Juche Bird is described as Trump’s “red line” on North Korea and a precursor to war.

It takes its name from the US’s first live nuclear missile test back during the Cold War – called the Frigate Bird.

North Korea could look to emulate its ally China, who proved its nuclear might by firing a live nuclear missile back in 1964.

Kim's foreign minister Ri Yong-ho first raised the possibility of the Juche Bird in a row with Trump at the UN.

He warned the North could hit back at the US with “the most powerful detonation of an H-bomb in the Pacific”.

Minister Ri said such a test would be personally ordered by Kim Jong-un, and the threat came as the regime warned of the “highest level of hardline countermeasure in history”.

And now according to the Japanese report, Kim has personally ordered a weapons test for next September.

War fears have reached new highs this year as Kim refuses to bow to pressure from the US and UN to give-up his pursuit of nuclear ICBMs.
