Liverpool must make one key signing to win the Premier League - Matt Le Tissier
LIVERPOOL must sign a top-class goalkeeper if they want to compete for the Premier League title in the coming years.
That is the view of Sky Sports pundit and former Southampton striker Matt Le Tissier.
Simon Mignolet was left out of the starting XI for Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Leicester at Anfield yesterday, with Loris Karius deputising.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp claimed Mignolet was rested, despite a string of poor performances of late.
Le Tissier says Liverpool need that extra bit of quality between the sticks to pick up some major silverware.
“If Liverpool want to be serious about threatening for league titles and challenging for those kind of trophies then I think they need a better goalkeeper,” he said.

“He is a sound Premier League goalkeeper but I think when you’re at that top level, I think you need something a little bit extra.”
Liverpool have already made their first signing of the January transfer window, with Virgil van Dijk set to join from Southampton for £75million.
Saints legend Le Tissier has seen the Dutchman play a lot and believes his defensive qualities are underrated.
“Yeah I think they are (underrated),” he added.

“I think when he’s on top of his game, previous to the injury that he picked up last year, he made defending look very very simple.
“He made the game of football look very simple.
“I think he’s got a lot of qualities, very comfortable on the ball, but I think his defending is actually very, very good.
“That’s why Liverpool were preferred to pay that amount of money for him.”
