President orders release of Rs. 2.5 billion for farmers

President Maithripala Sirisena says Rs. 2.5 billion has been released from the state fund to provide the country’s farmers with fertilizers.

According to President Sirisena, when information was received on December 30 that funds have not been released for farmers to withdraw money to purchase fertilizer, instructions were provided to the Ministry of Finance to release the necessary funds. Furthermore he noted that a he intends to create a formidable force in the country inclusive of officials, who can work for the country.

“This team will comprised representatives who will be picked despite of party differences,” added President Sirisena.
