"Swachh is a continuous process," Vijayakarthikeyan said. He said the process of ranking schools, hospitals and hotels was not to discourage others, but to motivate every organisation to aspire to be clean, he said.
He added that the cooperation between the corporation, corporates and people in Coimbatore has been good, which had helped the city advance in the swachh ranking over the years.
At the event, under schools, government schools, government-aided schools and private schools were adjudged as separate categories.
