PM Modi ‘Mann ki Baat’ HIGHLIGHTS: Leaders of all 10 ASEAN countries will be Chief Guests at Republic Day

Narendra Modi to address 2017’s last edition of ‘Mann ki Baat’ on December 31.

In 2017’s final edition of Mann ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday began his address to the nation through his monthly radio program. The prime minister on Thursday invited people to share their ideas for the programme. “The final Mann Ki Baat of 2017 on the final day of the year…looking forward to your inputs for the programme on 31st,” Prime Minister Modi had tweeted.

Mann ki Baat HIGHLIGHTS:

11.23 am: “It had come to our notice that if a Muslim woman wants to go on Haj, she must have a ‘Mehram’ or a male guardian, otherwise she cannot travel, it was discriminatory, we have changed this rule and this year around 1,300 women applied to go without a male guardian: PM Modi said during Mann ki Baat.

11.20 am: On October 2 2014, on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, we have all resolved to fulfill his unfulfilled dream of ‘Clean India’. Wide-ranging efforts are being made across the country towards cleanliness. Through people’s participation major change can be seen in the rural and urban areas, said PM Modi on Mann ki Baat.

11.18 am: “January 26, 2018 will be special. The leaders of all ten ASEAN countries would be the chief guest for our Republic Day celebrations. Such a thing has never happened before in the history of India. It is a matter of joy for the Indians,” says PM Modi.

11.15 am: “Our vision of ‘New India’ is one thatis free fromthe menace of casteism, communalism, corruption, filth and poverty. Our vision of a ‘New India’ is where everyone gets oppurtunities and flourish and where the aspirations of all are fulfilled… A ‘New India’ which has ‘Shanti’, ‘Ekta’ and ‘Sadbhavna’ as its guiding force,” says PM Modi during Mann ki Baat.

11.10 am: PM Narendra Modi addresses the ‘New India Youth’ in his address, he said, “A vote is the biggest power in a democracy. It can transform our nation. The New India Youth will transform our nation. We can have mock Parliaments in our districts, where we discuss how to make development a mass movement and transform India. The New India Youth must take a lead in this.”

11.08 am: PM Modi has a special message for people born on January 1, he said, “Tomorrow, 1st January is special. We welcome those born in the 21st century to the democratic system as they will become eligible voters.”

In the previous edition of ‘Mann ki Baat’ on November 26, Prime Minister Modi saluted the martyrs of the 26/11 attack. He said that ‘the nation remembers the “brave women and men” who lost their lives.’ He also spoke about spreading positivity in the coming new year. “I urge you to compile around five positive things from this year and share with me with ‘#PositiveIndia’; this will inspire others too.”
