Man Utd blow as Football Association ban Ashley Young for three matches

ASHLEY YOUNG has been banned for three matches after he accepted FA violent conduct charge.

Ashley Young will miss the next three games

Young was charged with violent conduct by the Football Association earlier today and was given until 5pm to respond.

The Manchester United defender had been cited after he appeared to strike Southampton’s Dusan Tadic in the stomach with an elbow during yesterday’s 0-0 draw.

Referee Craig Pawson did not see the incident but television footage captured the moment leading to the charge.

And Young accepted the charge and will now miss United’s next three games.

It means he won’t play in tomorrow’s clash with Everton, the FA Cup third round tie with Debry and Stoke on January 20.

The FA said in a statement: “Ashley Young will be suspended for Manchester United’s next three matches.

"He accepted a violent conduct charge following an off-the-ball incident during yesterday's game against Southampton, but argued the suspension was excessive.

“This was rejected by a Regulatory Commission."
