Letter: A New Year prediction

A historic tax bill has passed, which appears to mostly benefit corporations, the wealthy and the Trump family. There are promises of prosperity, but far more likely is trillion-dollar deficits ahead. For the rest of us, the benefits are not so much, as the initial small tax reductions for us are phased out over time, but the changes for the corporations and wealthy were made permanent.

The deficits will be the basis to drive cuts in federal programs. For example, we need to cut Medicare and Social Security, because the government is running a deficit (not paying attention to reduced revenue from corporations and wealthy caused by this tax bill). That’s my prediction for the new year, what’s yours?
