Mohamed Salah injury: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reveals extent of damage

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the injury to forward Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian netted a brace as Liverpool came from one goal down to beat Leicester 2-1 yesterday.

Jamie Vardy struck the opening goal for the Foxes but Salah took his seasonal tally to 21 goals with a double to flip the game on its head.

However, the sharp-shooter had to be withdrawn seven minutes from time and he was replaced by Georginio Wijnaldum.

Salah was seen limping off the pitch and Klopp admitted that it does not look good for the 25-year-old.

I don't know exactly at the moment but he was limping.

Jurgen Klopp speaking about Mohamed Salah.

"I don't know exactly at the moment but he was limping,” Klopp said.

“That's never a good sign to be honest.

“We have to see what his problem was.

"We will see what he can do for the next game."

Salah is now a doubt for the trip to Burnley on New Year’s Day (3pm).

Salah scored a brace against Leicester.

But Klopp has backed him to continue his goalscoring exploits when he returns to full fitness.

"Yes he can keep that standard for sure, he's still a young player, he can improve,” Klopp added.

"It's not only about scoring. It's about other situations as well. He's so important for us.

“But he knows and I know he couldn't score if he did not have fantastic support from all the other boys.

"We played fantastic passes and Sadio's (Mane) idea in the moment before Mo scored the first goal (a backheel) - I don't think many people in the stadium saw that that would be an opportunity!”
