Browns coach Hue Jackson after 0-16 season: No one else could've stuck with this job

Less than an hour after the Cleveland Browns completed just the second 0-16 regular season in NFL history, coach Hue Jackson took credit Sunday for doing a job that, in his mind, nobody else could've done.

"I don't think anybody else could've did this job," Jackson said in a press conference after his team's 28-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. "I don't think anybody else could've stayed in this job for two years and been 1-31. A lot of coaches would've said 'uncle' after last year. I know that. I think you guys do, too. I think a lot of coaches during this year would've said, 'Forget it.'

"I'm not walking out on these players or this organization. I came here to win. We're going to get this thing turned around, and we're going to get to winning."

With Sunday's loss, the Browns joined the 2008 Detroit Lions as the only teams in NFL history to finish 0-16. Nevertheless, owner Jimmy Haslam reiterated to reporters Sunday that Jackson will be back as the team's head coach in 2018, saying in part that he doesn't believe Jackson has lost his coaching magic.

With a new general manager, John Dorsey, how long will it take to re-tool a Cleveland team that has won just once in two years? According to Jackson, not as long as one might think.

"I don't think it's so far that we have to go," he said. "I don't think we're way, way off, as many people think we are."
