FLORAL CITY — A Largo motorcyclist died in a crash with a truck Saturday afternoon in Citrus County.

Margaret Proffitt, 58, was riding a Harley-Davidson west on East Gobbler Drive towards Old Floral City Road about 2:30 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol. John Joseph Meade, 69 of Panama City, was driving a Toyota Tacoma eastbound.

As the road curved, Proffitt veered across the center line, troopers reported, and collided with the truck. Troopers took her to Citrus Memorial Hospital, where she died. Proffitt was wearing a helmet when she crashed, according to the FHP.
