If you’re one of the unlucky people having to go to work on New Year’s Eve , or if you’re planning your night out, we’ve produced a guide to travel and timetables on the Tyne & Wear Metro system and Go North East and Arriva bus services.
New Year’s Eve
Metro
On New Year’s Eve (Sunday December 31) trains will run a weekday service until 10pm (times vary from station to station; see below), then a 30-minute service (15-minute service through Newcastle city centre) until about 11pm.

Bus
Go North East buses will run to Sunday timetables, with the majority of last departures between 5pm and 6pm. A download timetable of last services from key destinations can be found here.
Arriva North East will be running a normal Sunday timetable until around 6pm, after which buses will gradually be withdrawn. Final journey departure times for County Durham can be found here and for Northumberland and Tyneside here.
New Year’s Day
Metro
No Metro service. On Tuesday, January 2, 2017 trains will run to a normal timetable.
Bus
There will be no buses running on New Year’s Day.
Normal service resumes on January 2, 2017.
