NEWCASTLE were unable to bounce back from their defeat to Manchester City as they were held to a dour draw at home to Brighton.

The Magpies, who had only won one of their last six Premier League games, could not find a way past their obdurate opponents.
Brighton came closest to opening the scoring 25 minutes from the end, but Karl Darlow produced a strong right hand to deny Lewis Dunk.
Newcastle, however, dug deep in the second-half and took the game to the visitors.
A sustained spell of pressure nearly led to a goal.
Christian Atsu had a chance to seal all three points, but he horribly skewed his effort well wide of the target.
Newcastle occupy 16th spot in the table, just a point above the relegation zone.
