Gurbani magic

Delhi were 290 for 6, only to be bowled out for 295. Delhi's lower order isn't the best with the bat, but little did they know that a Gurbani special was coming their way. Rajneesh Gurbani bagged the last four wickets - all bowled - to finish with six wickets to his credit. He didn't bowl well yesterday when conditions were helpful, but today, became only the second bowler to bag a hat-trick in a Ranji Trophy final. He was struggling with some hamstring pain, but what a superb spell of fast swing bowling.

And that's a hat-trick!

Rajneesh Gurbani, the find of the season, has bagged a hat-trick. The dropped catch doesn't prove too costly as Gurbani gets Dhruv Shorey out for 145 by uprooting his offstump as well with an inswinger. Big wicket. Big moment. And it's Rajneesh Gurbani again. Another fifer for him!

While Gurbani is on fire at the moment, let's not overlook what a brilliant hand Shorey has played for Delhi here. A timely knock by the No 3. It was an unplayable delivery that eventually got him.

Big drop

Dhruv Shorey is now going after the bowlers, knowing well the there is limited batting left otherwise for Delhi. He goes after Aditya Thakare, but Apoorva Wankhade drops an easy one at third one after losing his footing. How costly will this prove?

Double blow

Rajneesh Gurbani has found his rhythm. After troubling the batsmen for quite some time, he has dismissed Vikas Mishra and Navdeep Saini off consecutive deliveries with incoming deliveries. He is on a hat-trick, but looks in a bit of trouble. He was troubled yesterday as well with some hamstring pain. Can the young pacer bag a hat-trick here?

Shorey down

Rajneesh Gurbani got the ball to jag back in and it hit Dhruv Shorey on the box. As Gurbani heads back to his bowling mark, Shorey falls on the ground in pain.

Shorey and Vikas Mishra may not have added too many runs, but they have seen through the difficult periods of play last evening and today morning, leaving Vidarbha without a wicket for more than 22 overs now.

Here's what centurion Dhruv Shorey had to say at the end of first day's play: "Playing in Delhi, we play a lot of 40-over, 50-over cricket. So yes, we are natural strokemakers."

No trouble

Rajneesh Gurbani and Aditya Thakare have come out to open the attack for Vidarbha on the second morning. The duo have bowled in good channels but they aren't getting the kind of assistance they were getting yesterday. The two batsmen - Vikas Mishra and Dhruv Shorey - are looking solid and untroubled.

Day 2

Hello and welcome to day two of the Ranji Trophy final. After a good start, Vidarbha let the advantage slip away. Led by a fine unbeaten century from Dhruv Shorey, Delhi managed to reach 271 for 6 at Stumps on the opening day.

Ganesh Satish was hit on his face and had to walk off the field. He didn't return to the field. Rajneesh Gurbani too pulled his hamstring in the 67th over and had to walk off the field. Nonetheless, he came back to field later in the day, even as he didn't bowl.

Can Vidarbha bowl out Delhi early on the second day or will Delhi manage to post a total in excess of 400. You can join in the discussion. Comment or tweet to us @Cricbuzz.
