Vero Beach High School’s boys basketball team will take a full head of steam into 2018.

Javian Cuff and Riley Minix combined for 43 points Saturday as the Fighting Indians defeated Tampa Bay Tech 74-64 in the championship game of the Vero Beach Holiday Hoopla at the John B. Witt Gym.

Cuff finished with 22 points and six rebounds while Minix had a career-high 21 points and six rebounds for Vero Beach (6-4), which completed a 3-0 run through the tournament.

Tommie Lewis, named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, had 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.

David Cexil scored a game-high 23 points for Tampa Bay Tech (8-3), which finished with nine 3-point goals. Ashtin Dore added 14 points and Tyric Brascombe scored 12 points.

Southwest Miami defeated Daniel Boone (Tennessee) 55-49 in the third-place final, Orlando-Evans defeated Heritage 62-61 in triple overtime for fifth place and Sebastian River defeated Cocoa 42-38 for seventh place.

The all-tournament team included Cuff and Lewis from Vero Beach, Cexil and Brascom from Tampa Bay Tech, Christopher Murray from Southwest Miami and Jared Lawson from Daniel Boone.

Sebastian River 42, Cocoa 38: Corbin Gibson had 20 points and seven rebounds to help the Sharks (4-7) finish seventh in the Holiday Hoopla.

Sebastian River plays Fort Pierce Westwood on Thursday in the New Year’s Shootout at John Carroll Catholic.

Vero Beach 77, Daniel Boone (Tennessee) 53 (Friday): Tommie Lewis had a game-high 21 points, four rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots as the Fighting Indians steamed to the Holiday Hoopla final.

Alan Glanville added nine points, six rebounds and four assists for Vero Beach (5-4). Demarcus Harris had eight points and four rebounds.

Chad Heglar scored 18 points, Jared Lawson 12 and Eric Rigsby 10 for Daniel Boone (7-5).

Evans (Orlando) 42, Sebastian River 41 (Friday): The Sharks (3-8) fell to 0-2 in the tournament.

D5 ALIVE HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT

Cincinnati Country Day 48, Port St. Lucie 35: Trey Smith scored a game-high 21 points and Blake Adkins added 16 as the Indians rallied to win the D5 Alive Holiday Tournament at St. Edward’s.

Trailing 27-18 at halftime, Cincinnati Country Day outscored Port St. Lucie 30-8 in the second half.

Daniel King scored 14 points for Port St. Lucie (5-6). Tyler Hendricks had 10 points.

Smith was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, and Adkins were Indians players named to the all-tournament team. Port St. Lucie’s Nate Davilla and King, St. Lucie West Centennia’s Bernie Moore, Lincoln Park Academy’s Carson McCann and Pine School’s Zach Scott rounded out the team.

St. Lucie West Centennial 52, St. Edward’s 35: Ethan Phillips led a balanced offense with 11 points as the Eagles won the third-place final.

Trequann Collins and Brent Allen scored 10 points apiece for Centennial (6-5), which led 28-16 at halftime.

Brandon Succes scored 13 points for St. Edward’s (4-6).

St. Edward’s hosts Trinity Christian on Jan. 8.

Lincoln Park Academy 78, Marco Island Academy 74 (OT): Carson McCann scored a game-high 29 points as the Greyhounds won the fifth-place final.

Louis Sexil added 14 points and Toby Lopez had 10 for Lincoln Park (2-7), which has won two consecutive games after an 0-7 start.

The Greyhounds outscored Marco Island 12-8 in the extra period.

Dominic Moller scored 23 points and Kyler Howard had 19 for Marco Island Academy (4-8).

Pine School 54, Community Christian 46: Sixth-grader Reese Woodbury and Zach Scott scored 18 points apiece as the Knights finished seventh place after their first win against a varsity opponent since the 2014-15 season.

Scott added six rebounds and five steals while Woodbury had five rebounds for Pine School (1-8), which led 32-14 at halftime and turned back a second-half Community rally.

Pine School drew five charging fouls, according to Knights coach Curtis Tuchon.

Jared Foster scored 15 points for Community Christian (3-6).

The teams play again Jan. 9 at Anderson Middle School.

Marco Island Academy 70, Community Christian 51 (Friday): Kyler Howard scored 23 points and Kevin Barry had 22 for Marco Island.

Bryce Nickerson scored 19 points and Jared Foster added 14 for Community Christian (3-5).

Port St. Lucie 63, St. Edward’s 27 (Friday): The Jaguars (5-5) rolled into the championship game behind 15 points from Nate Davilla and 10 from Chadrick Collins.

Brandon Succes scored 11 points for St. Edward’s (4-5).

Cincinnati Country Day (Ohio) 60, St. Lucie West Centennial 56 (Friday): Blake Adkins scored a game-high 24 points and Trey Smith added 21 to lead the Indians (7-1) to the championship game.

Bernie Moore scored 14 points for Centennial (5-5).

Lincoln Park Academy 61, Pine School 29 (Friday): Carson McCann scored a game-high 24 points as the Greyhounds (1-7) won their first game of the season.

Zach Scott scored 13 points for Pine School (0-9).

PALM BEACH SHOOTOUT

South Fork 58, Village Academy 46: Nochley Rene had 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists as the Bulldogs improved to 1-1 in the Palm Beach Shootout at West Palm Beach.

Miles Davis added 14 points and six rebounds for South Fork (5-4). Sito Torres had seven assists.

SUNSHINE SHOOTOUT

Jensen Beach 76, Gateway Charter 69 (Friday): The Falcons (4-7) completed a three-game sweep in the Southwest Florida Sunshine Shootout.

GATOR WINTER CLASSIC

San Leandro (California) 59, Fort Pierce Central 45: The Pirates outscored the Cobras 15-4 in the third quarter to take control in an elimination game of the Gator Winter Classic at Henderson, Nevada.

Daina Pelasauma scored a game-high 16 points for San Leandro (8-2), which trailed 28-27 at halftime.

Jania Thompson had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for Fort Pierce Central (6-4), which finished 2-2 in the tournament.

Denvia Morgan had 13 points and five rebounds while Maryanne Logsdon had seven rebounds.

Fort Pierce Central plays at 6 p.m. Jan. 5 at Miami Senior.

Fort Pierce Central 59, Rancho (Nevada) 25 (Friday): Denvia Morgan made five 3-point goals, scored a game-high 17 points and had three assists to help the Cobras finish 2-1 in pool play at the Gator Winter Classic in Henderson, Nevada.

Yancey Harmon hit four 3-point shots and finished with 12 points, four steals and four rebounds for Fort Pierce Central (6-3). Maryanne Logsdon had nine assists.

Rancho is 9-6.

FATHER LOPEZ HOLIDAY INVITATIONAL

Lincoln Park Academy 71, Santa Fe (Alachua) 23 (Friday): Sophia Marrero scored a game-high 24 points and was named to the all-tournament team as the Greyhounds finished 2-1 in the Father Lopez Holiday Invitational at Daytona Beach.

Leroyeisha Thomas had a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals for Lincoln Park (10-3), which led 39-13 at halftime.

Christen McCann had 14 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals, Deborah Reese grabbed 12 rebounds and LeAysha Duncan had four rebounds.

Santa Fe is 5-6.
