28-year-old man shot dead with 12 bullets in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: In a daring incident, two armed assailants pumped over 12 bullets on a 28-year-old man from Karnal, during the retirement party of an inspector, in sector 18 area of Panipat on Saturday afternoon.
With bullet injuries all over the body, Jaidev Singh, a resident of Karnal died on the spot. Irnoically, all this happened at the time when those attending the party included the cops.

Inspector Amit Kumar, the SHO of City police station said that the deadbody has been sent to civil hospital for autopsy. Further investigations are in progress to ascertain the identity of the assailaints.

Jaidev is married to niece of Inspector JIle Singh of Panipat police who is due to retirement on Sunday. He had organized the party after getting see off from the department.


The party was organized in the park near his house. It was in the afternoon when the party was in full bloom, the two assailants asked Jaidev to come out of pandal. As he went out they opened fire and pumped bullets on him, leaving him dead on the spot. Police has not ruled out the involvement of more persons in the incident.


Jaidev was into the business of setting up mobile towers and other towers as a outsource agency.


Soon after the incident, senior officials,who included the Panipat SP Rahul Sharma rushed to the spot. The forensic experts have picked up the empty shells of the fired shots.
